We have firmware, controls, and perception covered. Still need:

4. Mechanical / 3D Design Engineer

Scope:

  • Full chassis design in OpenSCAD or Fusion 360 (we have 16 OpenSCAD files started in projects/saltybot/cad/)
  • Motor mounts for 8" hoverboard hub motors
  • Battery + ESC enclosure
  • Jetson Nano + RealSense + RPLIDAR mounting brackets
  • TPU bumpers (safety requirement — mandatory before untethered operation)
  • Kill switch + arming button housing
  • Ceiling tether mount for development testing
  • Print-ready STL output for Bambu X1C (FDM) and A1

Must-have:

  • Parametric CAD (OpenSCAD preferred, we have existing files)
  • 3D printing design for FDM (wall thickness, overhangs, supports)
  • Mechanical integration of electronics + motors

Nice-to-have:

  • TPU flex material experience (bumpers)
  • CNC/laser cut parts for structural frame
  • Weight distribution analysis for balance point

5. Jetson Nano Platform Engineer

Scope:

  • Jetson Nano OS setup, optimization, and thermal management
  • UART communication with FC (receive telemetry, send velocity commands)
  • Camera pipeline: RealSense D435i depth + RGB streaming
  • RPLIDAR A1M8 driver integration
  • ROS2 node architecture
  • Power management (12V from DC-DC converter)
  • WiFi/SSH remote access for development

Must-have:

  • JetPack SDK / L4T experience
  • UART serial protocol implementation
  • Linux device driver / peripheral management
  • RealSense SDK 2.0 on ARM

Nice-to-have:

  • CUDA optimization on Nano
  • TensorRT for inference
  • Docker on Jetson

Max: please create sl-mechanical and sl-jetson users, generate tokens, and add as collaborators with write access. Same pattern as the other three.

Hardware Reference

  • 3D Printers: Bambu X1C (192.168.87.190) + Bambu A1 (192.168.86.161)
  • CAD files: projects/saltybot/cad/ (16 OpenSCAD files)
  • Jetson Nano: Have unit + Noctua fan
  • RealSense D435i: Have

  • DC-DC converters: 5V + 12V, have both
